Our season concludes with our annual candlelit concert. Echoes from Central Europe is a beautiful evening of string quartets evoking the beauty of the music from across the water. You will be transported amidst the glow of candles and wine glasses.

 

Marc Trembovelski, Cellist

Marc Trembovelski (cello) is a French cellist based in London. He holds a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Beginning his career at a young age, Mr. Trembovelski quickly established himself on concert stages across the United States and Europe. He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Bell Works Auditorium (New Jersey), Greenfield Hall (New York), Cary Hall (Massachusetts), Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center (New York), the Bauge Opera Festival (France), Snape Maltings Concert Hall (Suffolk, England), Duke’s Hall (London), and the Russian Cultural Centres in London and Paris. While performing, Mr. Trembovelski earned several awards, including the Arthur Balsam Duo Competition at Greenfield Hall (New York), first prize at the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition (New York), second prize at the Flame Competition in Paris in the “Excellence” category, and third prize at the S. Knushevitsky International Cello Competition in Russia. “His passion for music and his mastery of the cello are evident in every note he plays,” — Giancarlo Esposito, actor and director. Alongside his performing career, Marc has a strong passion for teaching the cello. In addition to running his own private studio, he assists Wolfram Koessel, cellist of the American String Quartet, in his studio at the Precollege Division of the Manhattan School of Music, where he is actively involved in the training of young cellists. His work in both performance and pedagogy has been recognized by Koessel for its musical and pedagogical commitment. “His contributions to musical performance and teaching extend his role as an ambassador of the art form, inspiring both peers and the next generation of musicians with his passion and dedication.” — Wolfram Koessel, cellist of the American String Quartet. A versatile musician, Marc is also active in studio recording projects and has participated in musical recording appearances for television shows and films, including HBO’s Succession and The Parenting, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, among others. Marc Trembovelski currently performs on a cello crafted in 1901 by Charles Resuche in France.

Carlos Rafael Martinez, Violinist

Carlos Rafael Martinez Arroyo is a distinguished violinist acclaimed for his technical proficiency and artistic versatility. Born in Córdoba, Spain and based in New York City, Carlos has carved a noteworthy presence in the classical music scene through performances, chamber music collaborations, and festival appearances across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Carlos holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, where he was awarded a full scholarship under the Pinchas Zukerman Performance Program. His influential teachers have included renowned violinists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Patinka Kopec, and Mark Steinberg. A review in El Mundo praised Carlos’s performance, stating: “Here one could appreciate his singing quality, his sense of phrasing, and his aptitude for musical dialogue, with the assurance of a soloist with superior technical resources and musicality.” His vibrant performance career includes featured solo engagements with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla in Spain, where he performed the Bruch Violin Concerto at the Teatro de la Maestranza, and the New York Session Symphony, presenting Brahms’s Double Concerto in Manhattan. Additionally, Carlos’s chamber music contributions include performances at esteemed venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, WQXR Radio Studios, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, and Festival Haus der Musik in Mexico, highlighting his ability to seamlessly blend solo artistry with collaborative musicianship. Carlos has participated in notable festivals and residencies, including serving as a Chamber Music Fellow at the Heifetz International Institute of Music and collaborating with eminent artists such as Ani Kavafian and Miki Sawada. His commitment to community engagement is evident through educational workshops conducted with Midori & Friends and at the New York Public Library, fostering deeper cultural appreciation and accessibility. His dedication to musical excellence has earned him accolades, including Second Prize at the Chicago International Violin Competition (2022). Outside performance, Carlos has cultivated significant teaching experience, nurturing students across diverse age groups and skill levels in prominent New York music institutions. Fluent in Spanish and English, and proficient in several other languages, he is dedicated to connecting with a global audience both through music and cultural exchange. He performs on a 2004 Mario Miralles violin generously loaned by the Maestro Foundation.

Selin Algoz, Violinist

Violinist Selin Algoz combines precision with expressive intensity, bringing both passion and clarity to every performance. Whether leading an orchestra section, collaborating in chamber music, or stepping into the spotlight as a soloist, she seeks to create musical experiences that feel alive, personal, and unforgettable. Her career has taken her to major stages across Europe and the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Konzerthaus (Berlin), Sala Santa Cecilia (Rome), and Smetana Hall (Prague). She has toured with the National Philharmonia Orchestra in europe and has shared the stage with distinguished musicians, including members of the New York Philharmonic and MET Opera. An award-winning chamber musician, Selin studied with Amaury Coeytaux of the Modigliani Quartet and has participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned violinists such as Itzhak Rashkovsky, Alexander Markov, Liviu Prunaru, Minco Minchev, and Andrej Bielow. Known for her versatility, Selin embraces a repertoire spanning classical works to contemporary music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Recent highlights include performances as principal violinist with the Manhattan School of Music Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, as well as duo collaborations with Alexander and Albert Markov. She is currently pursuing the Professional Performance Diploma at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studies with David Chan and Lisa Kim, and is a recipient of the L. John Twiford Music Scholarship.

Adam Kramer

New York City based Violist Adam Kramer regularly concertizes in and around the city as an Orchestral, Chamber, and Solo artist. He hold a BM and MM from the Mannes College of Music where he studied with Daniel Panner, Ira Weller, andmembers of the Orion Quartet. As an orchestral musician Mr. Kramer regularly performs with the Fort Greene Orchestra, The National Concerts Orchestra, the Bar Harbor Festival, and as a substitute musician with the West Virginia Symphony, Allentown Symphony, Albany Symphony, and other regional ensembles. As a chamber musician he has collaborated with many notable artists such as Vladimir Rumyantsev, Vladimir Feltsman, Benjamin Hochman, Filip Pogady and others. While standard classical music is his primary focus, other genres include klezmer, jazz, pop-covers, and film scores. In the fall of 2024 Mr. Kramer joined Hans Zimmer for his North American Hans Zimmer Live tour. Internationally Mr. Kramer has concertized in Canada, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, and has performed with the Lincoln Center Stage on the Holland America Cruise line. In addition to his performing career Mr. Kramer is a dedicated teacher. He maintains studios at The Bronx School for Music and the Wilton Music Studios where he specializes in teaching violin to the very young through the Suzuki method and subscribes to the philosophy "every child can."
